Latest Update
On May 17, 2010, after many months of anticipation, the IRS approved 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status for TMSA, Inc. Our PayPal link for donations is back up and running here on the support page of our website.
On April 15, 2010, TMSA filed an application for the Implementation Grant. This is a substantial two year, federally funded grant that can only be used on certain items that will have a direct outcome on our student achievement. This item is up for information at the next State Board of Education meeting on 6/10/10. Board members will be in attendance to continue our relations and to keep abreast on State education rulings.

Frequently Asked Questions
We know our families have a lot of questions! Rest assured we are working against a very tight time-line in order to address key items for our school. While we can not provide all the answers today, we want to update you as best we can.
When will we have Orientation?
Orientation is tentatively set for Saturday, 7/17/10 at an off-site location as our temporary sites will be under construction. Teachers will be on hand and we will have much information to share regarding drop-off, pick-up, student handbooks, lunch program, after-school programs and scheduling for uniform fittings.
When will we have Open House?
Open House will take place approximately 2 weeks after the start of the school year.
Will there be a Meet & Greet?
We are currently organizing socials by grade, so that the children, teachers and parents can get together and get to know one another over the summer months. We are planning for these "grade socials" for the first week in August. You will receive notification for these events.
What are the uniforms and where can I purchase them?
Uniform details will be available at Orientation, and in our June newsletter.
Where is the school located?
Grades 2-6 will be located at 1805 Harvard Avenue, College Park, GA 30337 (the current location of The Learning Academy of College Park).
The location of Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be announced soon.
Construction for remodel for both locations is set to begin on 6/15 and is scheduled for completion by August 1.
We are actively seeking out land for a new permanent facility to tentatively open Fall 2012.
When does the PTA begin?
We know many of you have reached out to get involved now - one of the most important missions of our school is parental involvement! As soon as this information is available we will be calling all to action.

What is The Main Street Academy?
The Main Street Academy offers parents of the Tri-Cities and South Fulton region the choice of a true community school, and provides K-6 children (growing one grade per year to K-8) a unique and rigorous learning opportunity.
Parents, students and The Main Street Academy team of educators partner together to create a uniquely administered community school developed for every student’s achievement and success.
The Main Street Academy fosters a strong sense of community, and works to develop a diverse student body reflective of the Tri-Cities region.
Working in partnership with EdisonLearning, who brings nearly 20 years of experience and innovation to public education; The Main Street Academy is a locally run public charter school created by a group of citizens who live, work or own businesses in the Tri-Cities area of Atlanta.

What Sets The Main Street Academy Apart?
The Main Street Academy is founded in the community to offer parents a choice of a school where the community-at-large works together to create an environment that promotes academic excellence.
The Main Street Academy embraces and celebrates the cultural diversity of the Tri-Cities area, and encourages students to develop into global thinkers and life-long learners.
Parents play an important and active role in their students’ education. With teachers and administrators, parents are part of the learning team that monitors and advances their child’s educational future.
In addition to the academics, students learn about character and a sense of community, and how to achieve the goal of becoming a contributing member of society.

What Makes Us Different?
We will require uniforms, teach Spanish and require Parental Involvement. We feel that a school should bring a sense of community and are proud of the diverse atmosphere that our school will comprise of.
If you would like to know more about our partner, EdisonLearning, please review their website. You can learn more about their successful Four Cornerstone Design curriculum. What Makes a Charter School Appealing?
Charter schools are free public schools that have greater flexibility to respond to their students’ individual needs.
Charter schools have certified teachers, challenging academics, and performance-based accountability measures – in many cases, greater than those for traditional schools.
Why We Need Your Donations
The #1 reason that Charter Schools fail is due to lack of funds!
We are functioning solely on our own dollars until any grants are approved or until any federal funding becomes available which could be well into summer. Grants are not always approved and until we get approval from the State, we only have the option of one small Planning Grant, which we were approved for and received in November 2009.
The more money we raise, the more likely we will be able to offer additional programs and extracurricular activities. Those of us who are paying private tuition now would greatly benefit the school by offering only a small amount of our current payout.
